Boys' Sports

The major sports for the boys at Ratcliffe College are rugby, hockey and cricket. There are also fixtures run on a regular basis in a number of other activities including football, athletics, cross-country, swimming, tennis, golf, squash and basketball.

Games lessons focus on our major team sports. PE lessons broaden our students’ experience through a wide range of activities covering the major areas as outlined in the National Curriculum. The following activities are covered in PE lessons.

Year 7 – athletics, orienteering, gymnastics, swimming, badminton and tennis

Year 8 – athletics, team-building, trampolining, swimming, health-related fitness, basketball and tennis

Year 9 – athletics, gymnastics, swimming, health-related fitness, basketball and tennis

Year 10 – athletics, life-saving, personal fitness training, badminton, basketball, softball and tennis

Years 11-13 – students in these years take part in the major team games. Those not involved in the squads enjoy a varied programme including football, fitness suite, swimming, dance, aerobics, self-defence, cross-country running, squash, badminton and basketball.
