British Geological Survey – 20th March 2014
On Thursday 20th March Year 5 journeyed to the British Geological Survey in Keyworth. We were privileged to be invited to celebrate National Science Week by taking part in their ‘Rock and Fossil’ week.
We were able to join in a variety of sessions prepared for us. In ‘Earthquakes’ we were we were able to create and measure our own earthquakes using a seismometer. In ‘Life through the ages’ we examined fossils and relics dating back millions of years. ‘The Geological Time Machine’ allowed us to be transported back in time to see the evolution of the earth over millions of years. The morning flew by and we all learned a great deal from these and other workshops on offer. We all had a great time joining in and learning about the past.
