FutureChef Stage 1
Stage 1 of the annual FutureChef competition took place in the Food Technology department on Monday the 9th October during prep time. The challenge was to make a main course meal for 2 people costing no more than £5 in 60 minutes. All competitors were females this year, come on boys it would be great to see some budding Chefs next year entering. The atmosphere in the Food department was of calmness, excitement and anticipation. All entries received points for their house.
The winner of Stage 1 was Yasmina Lock who made smoked deconstructed paella, which was just delightful. The runner-up was Charlotte Langford who made haddock soufflé with fondant potato and a hollandaise sauce.
The judges on the evening were Mrs Postill, Rachel Sou, Cherry Tsang and Mrs Burton. Congratulations to all competitors and we all would like to wish Yasmina and Charlotte good luck as they both go forward to Stage 2 of the competition on Tuesday 14th November at Loughborough College.
