Go4SET Introduction Event, 8th March 2017, University of Nottingham

On Wednesday 8th March 2017, a group of seventeen Year 9 students attended the launch of the science and engineering competition, Go4SET, held in the Pope Building at the University of Nottingham’s City Campus. The 17 science enthusiasts were Timi Ajetunmobi, Lucy Antill, Jonathan Bellamy, Kristian Brocksopp, Ben Chilton, Harry Cusack, Rebecca Davies, Archie Heaney, Thomas Leite, Annabel Mills, Guy Mills, Ihuoma Osuji, Tom Page, Eisha Patel, Sam Seidu, Alex Tyszka and John Wells. The students have been split into three separate teams and each team has carefully considered their team name – so far we have Thomas’s Tank Engineers and Archie’s Angels! The teams have also now chosen their project theme, and begun their initial discussions. In 10 school weeks’ time, their projects will be formally assessed at the Go4SET Celebration and Assessment Day.

By providing a real and live Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) project, Go4SET will raise the pupils’ awareness and highlight the exciting future career opportunities in STEM. Good luck to the students!
