Prep School Sports Report – 4th October
On Wednesday 4th October, the U11A hockey team played against Leicester Grammar School. After meeting previously at the Fairfield tournament we need it was going to be a tough game as Leicester Grammar looked strong. We defended well and tried hard to create attacking opportunities where we could and Annabelle Hull scored an excellent goal. Unfortunately, Leicester Grammar were too strong for us on the day and the final score was 3-1. Keep going girls.

On Wednesday 4th October, the U11B hockey team played against Leicester Grammar. We had 4 short quarters. In the first quarter, we scored a super goal and this lifted the whole team for the rest of the match. We worked together and raised the level of our game play. Defending on both teams was excellent and Alice Bower didn’t let any goals in. Great work Alice! Esha and Maisie didn’t stop for breath throughout the match and all the girls were a force to be reckoned with. Well done to all girls who played. The final score was 1-0 to Ratcliffe.

The year 5s team got off to a flying start scoring in the first minute of the game, courtesy of Gracie who then when on and scored a further two, to complete a hat-trick. Charlotte added a fourth in what was a convincing win against a Leicester team. The girls played fantastic and it was a whole team effort to produce such a great result.

On Thursday 5th October, the U9A team had their first fixture against Leicester Grammar School and wow were the girls excited! From the moment the whistle went, Ratcliffe was completely dominating the game play. Katie Shield, Sophia Hull, Lola Gallacher and Phoebe Smith were really working together to move the ball around the D and creating space. 2 fabulous goals scored by Katie Shield and secured Ratcliffe their first win of the season. The final score was 2-0. Well done girls.

Yesterday, the U9B team also had their first fixture against Leicester Grammar School. The girls were excited about their first experience of playing hockey is a real match. With Mrs Wetton cheering and supporting on the side-line, the girls were really trying to think about the rules of the game and practise their dribbling and passing skills. Unfortunately, Leicester Grammar were stronger than us on this occasion but the girls had a lovely afternoon and enjoyed their yummy chicken burger! Well done girls.
