Race For Life – 8th June 2014
On Sunday 8th June, a group of 30 girl boarders and female staff took part in The Race for Life at Nottingham. The atmosphere was wonderful with plenty of spectators encouraging all runners and walkers on their run or walk. Miss Vernon came 1st against all competitors completing the 5k race in just 19 minutes, a fantastic achievement. It was fabulous to see so many people taking time out to continue to raise awareness and money for the continuous fight against cancer. One of the most inspirational moments was watching an elderly lady walking with two walking sticks to the finishing line. As well as the run, all the boarding community got involved in making cakes for a sale in which we raised over £200 pounds. This money goes towards an amazing total of around £800. I am very proud of all the girls who took part in the race, and also would like to say a big thank you to everyone else who has contributed this year.
