Record breaking set of GCSEs – 21st August 2014
Students and staff are celebrating a record breaking set of GCSE results at Ratcliffe College in a year when our GCSE roll increased by 24%. With 96% of students achieving five or more A* to C grades, particular congratulations must go to the 30% of candidates who achieved 8 or more A*/A grades which was an increase on last year’s record by 7%. It also bucks the national trend where there was a fall in top grades.
Number of students entered: 92
Percentage passed with five or more A* to C grades including English and Maths: 91% (91% in 2013)
Percentage passed with five or more A* to C grades across any subject: 96% (96% in 2013)
Headmaster, Mr Gareth Lloyd, commented:
“This year’s GCSE results represent a superb all-round performance by Ratcliffe students. The most able girls and boys achieved the highest grades across the board; yet there were exceptional results from all students, with an outstanding 21% and 49% of all grades being A* and A*/A respectively, both of which are an improvement on last year’s records. Our students were three times more likely to score an A* grade compared to the national average. This reflects excellently on the students, and of course their teachers, and bodes very well for the future.”
