Ratcliffe rugby teams’ opponents were Wellingborough this week. This was yet another strong performance from the 1st XV, who just failed to secure a fourth straight win. Lewis Lancaster created the try for Seb Dewhurst, while George Clayton was Man of the Match.

The 2nd XV had a tough match against a very physical Wellingborough side, losing 45 – 0.

The U15s remain unbeaten after a nail-biting 25 – 19 victory. John Sommerville was Man of the Match.

The U15B team started brightly in their 37 – 19 defeat. Try scorers were Robin Irara-Bagnall and Daniyal Omarov with two. Special mentions must go to Robin Irara-Bagnall, Daniyal Omarov, Olutomi Musaku and Man of the Match Arran Popat for leading from the front.

The U14s lost their first match of the season, 17 – 7. Man of the Match was Henry Wells for his excellent try under the posts and defensive display.

The U13s continued their excellent season with a 31 – 10 win.  Try scorers were Matt Egglenton, Will Westwood and Harry Culpin with two apiece. Alex Bown was Man of the Match for a superb all-round game.

Congratulations and good luck to Carrick Anderson who has qualified for the finals of the national horse jumping competition to be held in Liverpool next week.

Congratulations also to Jake Kirkby who won the U13 squash competition in Northamtonshire last week.

Oundle and Wellingborough were the opponents this week for the girls’ hockey teams.

The 1st XI put in a very credible performance in their 3 – 0 defeat to Oundle. Players’ Player goes jointly to Martha Lewis and Angharad Lloyd, while Coach’s Player goes to Annabel Tomlinson.

The 2nd XI had a very entertaining game in their 3 – 2 defeat against Oundle. Goal scorers were Megan Gray and Player of the Match Mia Mordecai-Smith.

The 3rd XI lost 2 – 1. Rosie Jones was the goal scorer and Annisa Tang was Player of the Match for her efforts in defence.

Mid-week the U15s drew 2 – 2 with Wellingborough. Goal scorers were Joint Players of the Match Lucy Prusinski and Olivia Back, while Alex Offer was also Player of the Match.

On Saturday the U15s had a disappointing trip to Oundle, with Player of the Match Hannah Grinham producing some fine saves in goal.

The U15B mixed team lost 2 – 1 away at Oundle.  Ceri Graham received Player of the Match for her excellent work rate in defence and movement off the ball.

Mid-week the U14s beat Wellingborough 1 – 0 in a hard fought fixture. Goal scorer was Molly Edwards and Player of the Match Jenna Pole.

On Saturday the U14s lost a hard fought match against Oundle 4 – 0. Players of the Match were Amy Baxter for some excellent saves and good communication in goal, and Ru Tsatsa for a solid performance in defence.

The U13s lost to a tough Oakham side this weekend. Players of the Match were Sharmel Yapa and Abigail Santaney.
