Sports Day
For once the weather held fair for an excellent afternoon of Athletics. Archery was introduced for the first time and there were some excellent individual performances, with an impressive 23 individual records broken (since records began to be recorded in 2008). The highlights of these included Mia Atkinson running against Sixth Formers in the Open 1500m and not only winning but breaking the 1500m record by over 20 seconds! Robert Bourne was very impressive in the high jump, recording a new Senior record of 1m 75cm. James Robinson, Emily Grimmett and Louisa Cooper have set new standards in the sprints and Cameron Hart is surpassing his brother’s records in the middle distance events. Ganesh Thapa continues to break all the discus records as he goes through the age groups and Bruno Gillick broke the Intermediate javelin record by over 6 metres. Congratulations to Emily Grimmett, Georgia Holt, Louisa Cooper, Will Westwood, Harry Redding and James Richardson for winning the best all-round athlete in their respective age categories.
