Sports Reports – 8th December 2014

Comments are closed.

Owing to the bad weather over the weekend, all the rugby fixtures were cancelled. This means that congratulations must go to the U12 team, as just like the U15s, they have achieved the incredibly difficult task of going through the whole term unbeaten. Well done, boys!

County Rugby
On Wednesday 3rd December the U13s narrowly lost, 38 – 31, in their County Cup quarter-final rugby match against Market Bosworth School. A superb start by Ratcliffe with some early scores ensured a 26 – 10 half-time lead, while the opposition must be credited with an excellent second-half comeback. They had some quick and powerful runners whom the Ratcliffe boys found difficult to tackle and they scored what proved to be the winning try with only minutes remaining. Will Westwood played outstandingly well all game and was the deserved Man of the Match and special mentions must go to Jonah Caroll, Alex Bown, Fin Back and Ollie Welch for their efforts.

The 1st XI football team beat a weakened Welbeck side 10 – 0 on Saturday, with both Omar Khan and Alfie Brown scoring hat-tricks. Obinna Anaba scored twice with Alex Jarvis and Declan McAuley scoring one each. Player of the Match was Joey Higham for organising the team so well. A special mention must also go to Carrick Anderson for saving a first-half penalty.

Rory Thorne,
Boys’ Sports Captain.

Cross Country
Congratulations to Mia Atkinson and Alice Daniel who finished 1st and 2nd respectively on Saturday in the County Cross-Country race. We look forward to them hopefully qualifying for the Championships that will be held at Ratcliffe again on Saturday 31st January.

Angharad Lloyd,
Girls’ Sports Captain
