Staff versus Parents and Students golf match – 3rd June 2015

Congratulations to the staff golf team who took revenge for last year’s defeat to beat the parents and students 123 points to 108, at a sun-drenched course at Rothley Park Golf Club. Despite some nerves on the first tee, all 5 matches were away by 5.45pm and thoroughly enjoyed a nine-hole loop comprising holes 1-4 and 14-18. The course was in great condition with fast, undulating greens which made birdies a rarity. The format of the match was full handicap combined stableford.

The results were as follows:

Aimee Cleminson and Mr Cleminson vs. Mr Yell and Mrs Dorn (won 30 points to 23)

Emily Dunne and Mr Dunne vs. Miss Stafford and Mr Turns (match drawn 22 points all)

James Turner and Mr Turner (won 26 points to 20) vs. Mr Gilchrist and Mr Taylor

Reece Goodman and Mr Goodman vs. Mr Willcock and Mr Reddin (won 31 points to 18)

Tom Scarborough and Mr Scarborough vs. Mr Michel and Mr Henshaw (won 20 points to 19 points)

Congratulations to Mr Scarborough who won the prize for nearest the pin on the tricky 4th hole, and to Mr Michel who secured the prize for the longest drive, on the par 4 16th much to the chagrin of Mr Reddin! Mr Michel went on to birdie the hole securing 4 points for his team. Mr Cleminson achieved the highest points total for the parents with 15 points, Mr Turns for the staff with 17 points and Emily Dunne for the students with 10 points.

Thank you to all those who gave up their time to play and help create such a lovely atmosphere for the students. Thank you to Mr Danny Spillane, PGA professional, and the Rothley Park Golf Club for allowing us to play and providing such good hospitality after the match. The students and parents are looking forward to having an opportunity to reverse the score-line next year.
