Stage 1 of the annual FutureChef competition took place in the Food Technology department on Monday the 10th October during prep time. The challenge was to make a main course meal for 2 people costing no more than £5 in 60 minutes. We had lower numbers this year; perhaps students were worried about the competition from the other competitors. The atmosphere in the Food department was of calmness and excitement. All entries received points for their house.

The winner of Stage 1 was Yasmina Lock who made pan fried duck breast on pomme puree with a bluberry sauce and orange infused crumble. The runner-up was Isabella Mulvihill who made Thai green curry. Huge congratulations to all competitors and we all would like to wish Yasmina and Isabella good luck as they both go forward to Stage 2 of the competition on Friday 25th November at Loughborough College.
