The U10s’ travelled to Grace Dieu for their annual football festival. In testing weather conditions, Ratcliffe began well with a well fought 4-2 victory against St Clare, with Finlay Back netting an impressive hat trick and Tom Page scoring the other goal. The confidence gained in the first game really showed in the 2nd group game against St Francis. Final score was 7-0, with Connor Foster, Owen Lloyd, Stanley Chell and  Finlay Back (4) all finding the net for Ratcliffe. As the rain continued, so did the Ratcliffe goal tally, in the third group game against Sacred Heart. Impressive passing and flowing attacking play, saw Finlay Back score his third consecutive hat trick of the tournament and Tom Page hit a brace. Ratcliffe’s good form continued into the semi-final. Goal scorers were Owen Lloyd, Stanley Chell, Tom Page (2) and the impressive Guy Mills finished off some wonderful flowing football. The inevitable happened as Ratcliffe met Grace Dieu in the final. Tom Page opened the scoring for Ratcliffe after a great solo effort down the right wing, Connor Foster grabbed the 2nd before Tom Page finished the game with his second. Final score, 3-0 to Ratcliffe, to claim the trophy. A special mention goes to Thomas Leite and Alex Tyszka for sharing the goal keeping duties in cold and wet weather; to only concede 2 goals in 5 games was a fantastic achievement. Players’ of the tournament were the captain, Finlay Back, and midfielder Tom Page, as they netted 17 goals between them. Well done to all of the boys, a fantastic team effort!
