Junior Sports Reports – 4th October

On Wednesday 3rd October, the U10 rugby team played a strong Fairfield team. Despite going a few tries down and with the opposition dominating territory, the team stuck to the task well, putting in some excellent tackles. Towards the end of the game, Ratcliffe fought back with good tries from Conor Foster and Finley Back, to finish  the game by losing 6 tries to 2. Men of the match were Conor Foster, for his good running skills and Owen Lloyd, for his excellent all round game.

The under 11s’ also played Fairfield school on Wednesday afternoon.  Ratcliffe went 2 tries down in the first half before a strong break by Alex Bown and a good leg drive from William Westwood resulted in a try just before half time.  After half time, Ratcliffe came out strongly and ran down the hill well.  George Linnett did some good rucking around the park and Joseph Evenden scored a break away try to make the score 3-2.  Unfortunately, Fairfield scored just before the end, and a draw was probably a fair result.  Man of the Match was William Westwood who tackled and ran well with the ball.

The Elms were the visitors to Ratcliffe on Wednesday 3rd October for girls hockey fixtures. The U 10s’  played exceptionally well and although The Elms were the winning side, the girls played superbly and Lucy Antill scored a brilliant goal. Emily McBallantine was awarded player of the match.

The U11s’ played an amazingly well drilled Elms side who played hockey like team GB. Despite this, the Ratcliffe girls kept playing until the final whistle and put in a solid performance and should be pleased with improving game play. All of the team were awarded players of the match for their spirit and determination.

Well done to all of the children who took part and thank you to all of our supporters who turn up to cheer the children on.
